Every now and again we all seem to get into a dry spell concerning creativity. The ideas just won’t flow. The art tools are laying useless on the desk. The canvas is blank waiting for another round of creative bliss, but, it just isn’t happening. Are there ways to help reignite creativity again? Yes, there are ways to reignite creativity.
Lets take a look at one way: A designer named Jim Krause has written several books for the design world. One book, Creative Sparks is a good idea book. It is true that it is geared for graphics designers but this book is fun and innovative for anyone in the art field, in my opinion. A few examples: Look around you at the architecture-old and new, details, shapes, structure, color and materials. Compare them.; Remember to allow yourself a break between projects to allow for freshness to your creative energies; visit other artists and find out what they are doing. Visit during a gallery walk, or in our city, First Fridays (we’re usually open). See, some of the ideas in the book aren’t just keeping you in the studio.
Give it a try. What do you have to lose? Maybe you will gain new creative juices flowing…
We’ll look at a few other ways later.
