I have been painting for approximately 45 years – from my early years growing up on the Monterey Peninsula and in Carmel Valley in California and through my college years at UC Santa Barbara until now. I obtained an MFA degree from UC Santa Barbara in 1969 after some active duty in the Coast Guard. I then taught art and design at San Jose City College and Evergreen Valley College until my eventual move to South Carolina. I have been featured in two books – Best of America Water Media Artists and Best of America Acrylic Artists. I have had my work on several book covers and several magazine covers.
My medium of choice is acrylic paint on canvas – particularly for the staining, glazing and textural possibilities. Many liberties are taken in choosing colors, values, textures, and sizes in creating my paintings.
