Bill’s Artist Statement:
“I love nature and I love art. I try to make a connection with nature through art. My goal is to express my feelings for the beauty or events that I witness or imagine.
I grew up in south Florida and spent most of my time around water. I was lucky to be there when Miami was still a sleepy little town. It was a tropical paradise really, and I appreciated it immensely. I had a business and raised my family there. We lived a good life, but I always thought about art. When Miami got overgrown, we decided to move. We wound up in Greenville, SC and I thought it was time to explore art.
Although I have a degree in commercial art, I am self-taught with regard to painting. I have drawn all my life, but only got involved in painting (seriously) during the last six years. I took a course offered by Furman entitled, “Paint the Fall Leaves”. We took watercolors out to various sites and painted. It was the most fun I had had in years. I was hooked. Now, I look forward to painting every waking second. At this stage of my life, nothing else matters (other than family, of course). I want others to see my work with the hope that my expression will arouse the same feelings in them.”
A reception will take place on Friday, July 7th from 6-8 pm during Greenville’s First Friday event where one can meet the artist and see his work. The reception is free and open to the public.
